Possibly a fuse has blown... is it lighting up? That's a quick fix...

most vehicles 95 and newer has a fuse under the hood that sometimes goes out and or sometimes just needs reset. You should look in your owners manual or look under your hood for the fuses and find the one that says memory. Pull the fuse out and leave it out for 20 to 30 second. then put the fuse back in and turn your car on. let it run fora couple of min. then turn back of then on again. If that doesn't work then you should probly replace the fuse which should be really cheap.

I would have to think that either you blew a fuse or that the speed sensor is bad. That is if it is not a cable driven speedo. The speed sensor is located in or on the drive shaft end of the trany all the ones that I have seen are on the pas side out put shaft of the tranny.

You need a new cable that goes to your trans.
