when i can expect them to stop by and nest its in the air and next to the water

Without knowing at all where you're located IT MATTERS!

Also without knowing your knowledge of the bird; I hope I don't offend you.

"In the air" is good, as is "near water'. "IN the Water" would be better. How High in the air? They are extremely selective, perhaps because they realize how endangered they are on the list of...........

They often roost and nest at 40 ft. or higher, and are not strictly interested in neighbors close; and certainly not interested in access by racoons; etc; who do climb.

I offer this general link, in hopes you glean something from it; most especially given that it's Nov. 23 and related to your location.
