"unusual orientation"? Why does this question scream "BS!" to me?

If he's straight, don't get him to try anything with you.

First of all the fact that you referred to being gay as an unusual orientation is messed up. Furthermore that is personally insulting ....

Second of all - your friend is straight. Get it? What if you were straight and he were gay. Say he also has a crush on you ...... how comfortable would you be if he made a move on you?

If you make a move on him I doubt he will reciprocate .... BUT you may just lose your best friend

first off, there in nothing unusual about it and second, if he's straight, he's straight. Getting him drunk as some people will I'm sure tell you. Won't do anything but make the friendship go down the tubes. If you feel that he might be bi as well, tell him about it or just tell him that you are and see what happens. Most people will not sever a friendship for something like that.

If he is your friend dont come onto him. That is if it means that much to you. Let him know if you are gay but dont force yourself on him. I would not let him know you are attracted to him. You might just feel attraction to him because you know him well and are around him a lot. If so that will pass.

If you truly value his friendship, and he is indeed straight, don't try anything with him. If he's a good friend, it's not worth losing him for some little fling.

Don't do that! If you say your friend is straight leave him alone and go find someone who's attracted to men.

If he is straight then don't even go there.

He'll not want to try anything like that with you

Just keep him as a friend

You'll go through your life lusting after hundreds of straight guys, but they are forbidden fruit. There's a risk that you'll end up with a flattened nose. They're straight and you can't turn them. Forget him and move on.

you cannot-your freind is straight and that is the end of it-if you attempt to "get him to try something " with you-not only are you out of order it would in all likelyhood damage your freindship with your freind irrepairably. accept that it's not going to happen with this person and move on.
