The UCLA law school has found that a marked increase in the percentage of Americans who accepted homosexual acts between consenting adults should be legal. In 1998 it was 33% while in 2007, it has increased to 59%. (THE WEEK magazine, Nov. 16th, 2007 edition)

I am familiar with that study. I think it is due to the increasing enlightenment and tolerance of gays and lesbians.

Thats great, however i wished that was like 80% lol. I have a couple of friends that say they don't accept it but they don't care either so... I'm confused about that. Thats pretty low for 9 years though. I'm glad that the openly gay couples are increasing because they are showing a lot of courage. I don't get why people are so scared of homosexuals anyways... sigh.

The acutally percentage of gay people has hasn't increase it's just that more people are becoming for open and disclosing the fact that they are gay. Yes there are more homosexuals now but that's only becuase the human poplulation is at it's higher, it's still approx 7%.

I would guess the large change in results is a more accepting attitude (in most places) toward homosexuals. It is simply a change in reporting homosexuality (honestly) and in larger numbers of people being out (I don't know a better way to phrase this - but hopefully you know what I mean).

Society is much more accepting of others. The actual # hasn't increased any more than the population itself has increased. What is different is merely the # that are OPEN about it.

You said "As a result of a study, the number of openly gay couples has quadrupled..."

So I say, do more studies!

It is inevitable that one day it wont matter ... we're still relatively un-evolved as a species... but we're learning slowly... at least now we know the world isn't flat... and women with red hair aren't witches... YAY!
