I have heard good things about it and am interested in moving there. It would be myself, my husband and our 2 daughters (2 & 5). We would want to start in an apartment in a decent area and was wondering if anyone could recommend any... 3 BR from $600-$800 a month. If not Ft. Collins, somewhere else beautiful in Colorado, but not in a major city. Thanks to answers!

I grew up in FC, my parents still live there. Don't know what they get for rents around there now. Fort Collins is a college town, so I'm sure you can find reasonably priced rentals. For cheap rentals look in the area around CSU, the older parts of town. There really aren't any bad parts of FC, not like there is a ghetto or anything. You might be able to find lower rental prices if you look in the La Porte area (north west of FC on Hwy287) or in Loveland (10 miles south of FC also on 287). There is also growth occuring to the east in Windsor, CO too.

The "hottest" part of FC is towards the south eastern side. There are two new high schools there. Hewlett-Packard, new medical facilities, some semi-conductor companies, lots of new housing. FC has become a bedroom community for Denver, so folks live as close as possible to Denver but still in FC.

If you look north and east of town, in the area out by the FC country club, you will find the upscale neighborhoods from the 60's-70's. Homes out here have more established yards, larger lots, great views. Some are on lakes.

My grandmother lived in Ft. Collins for over 50 years, and I always loved visiting her there because it is a cool place, and it's close to a lot of other cool places.

It is beset by sprawl now, but every city along the highway there is.

If I was forced to move to Colorado, for my money I'd choose Estes Park.
