I give myself an allowance of time to feel crappy. When my time is up, i take a deep breath, smile and relax and try to move on with my day.
it's also important to find your own coping tools for negative emotions. anything basically to help you calm down and get your mind off things. I find that calling a friend, meditation, music, driving, reading, and watching movies are mine.
just remember that we're not going to be happy all the time so don't beat yourself up if you spend a day being upset, tommorow is a whole new day.

I go for walks - especially walks that involve a specific destination, so I can feel happy about having walked to the store instead of driven (it's less than 2 miles from my house). Cold, outdoor air helps a lot.
I listen to music - Ella Fitzgerald is a good choice, but so is Rainer Maria or anything that's not completely depressing.
I watch movies with British actors - dry humor and cute accents give me this bizarre sense of hope and meaning on sad days. Shooting Fish, Pride and Prejudice (the A&E version), even James Bond movies.
Sometimes, I hide in the closet. But maybe I shouldn't recommend that to others? :)
Just be nice to yourself, and drink some tea, and try not to spend the whole day inside. Once, the only thing that got me through the day was a girl in bright green knee-high socks walking the parking lot where I lived. Small things can make a difference on very bad days.

I give myself time to wallow - but not much...I simply don't have much time for it. I watch a movie or show that I know will make me cry (I'm generally a soft hearted person anyway) and let myself have a good cry. Then I have a little piece of chocolate (contains endorphins that improve female emotional health).
Most days, I can't do these until the end of the day, after work and after the kidlets have been tucked into their beds, so I spend most of the day reminding myself not to take my mood out on others and try to be alone as much as possible(Difficult to do as a high school teacher and mother of two!).
Give yourself permission to feel the way you do. Embrace it and don't let it hurt the people around you.

I exercise.
Here are some good ideas:
1. Do something that gets your heart rate up a bit like, walking, running, biking, and swimming.
2. Eat Whole, Organic foods like: Broccoli, Cabbage, Organic Brown Rice, Beans, Spinach, Sweet Potato, Apples, and other fruits and vegetables in their Natural State.
3. Avoid eating corn, white bread, white rice, white potatoes, candy, sodas, chips, and anything else that you already know you shouldn’t be eating.
4. Drink clean water as your beverage of choice. Avoid Fruit drinks and fruit juices (unless YOU juice them yourself)
5. Stop smoking, drinking beer & wine, and drinking coffee.
6. Get 8 hours of sleep each night.
7. Hang out with people who want to be healthy.
8. Avoid anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup.
Tone up the muscles:
1. Join a gym and get a trainer.
2. If you’re short on cash, start a light stretching & yoga regimen.
3. Do push-ups, and light dumbbell curls for the upper body.
4. As I said above, walk, run, swim, and or bike
5. Take an aerobics class, a yoga class, or some other fitness class.
6. Join the local YMCA..
7. Buy or borrow this book by Bill Pearl called GETTING STRONGER.
In the book, he describes everything you need for a great fitness plan.
Mental Health:
1. Get a friend to talk to each day about your feelings.
2. If you have some money or insurance, get a counselor to talk to.
3. Learn how to meditate.
4. Join a support group for the issue you’re dealing with.
5. Ask your Higher Self (or God) for guidance.
6. Start keeping a diary or journal about your feelings & thoughts.
7. Write a ‘gratitude’ list every night.
8. Do something that makes you happy each day like: listen to your favorite music, draw, paint, write, or anything creative.
9. Do something for someone else who needs help.
10. If the above suggestions don't improve your mental health, talk with your therapist about the possibility of taking some medication.
Take care of yourself

Hi, me I listen to music that relaxes me and makes me happy. I think of quotes that make me happy and feel better. I also play with my dog, she always cheers me up. If there is something bothering me and that is why I am having a bad day I write it down in a notebook or on a peice of paper. Talking to people helps too.

I'm 68. I go by that old saying "That which doesn't kill me only makes me stronger? So by now honey I am so strong I rarely get down. But if I do, I come here to the internet and play a game or talk to a stranger.

Likes to be sad. We down right enjoy it. The more we try and enjoy the sadness the harder it is to be sad. Crying helps. Puking in the morning helps too. Writing out details helps three.
