Where do I start! What an incompetent government. They say that measures such as ID carding will make the country safer, quite ironic when you put it into the context of the occurrences of lost data, not just on Tuesday, but throughout labour's tenure. The only positives to come out of this is that (1) Labour WILL not be in power next term and (2) ID cards are effectively dead in the water. Additionally, if your money is removed because of this debacle then you are entitled to sue the government. I just hope we move to a conservative government in 2009/10.

I cannot see how your details could be lost?

With all the technology today & back up data, it sounds like a big scam, told to you just before the year ends.

There is an ulterior motive in this....all sounds just a bit "Fishy". from this side of the world. Fear tactics, they may be using this as a smokescreen as they do something else.

From New Zealand.

Looking at the shambles that place is in I think it wants a clean sweep.I know successive governments have tried to do the right thing to help unemployment in these areas. But surely you have to have some kind of qualifications to get a job there. And to be dressed appropriately.Have standards in the Civil Service slipped that far God help this Poor benighted country of ours
