...what? I have a few ideas that I would share, but I'd like to leave it up to the others on here to look beyond their emotions and biases and pay some attention to the issues that are largely agreed upon.

The most unifying answer gets a whopping 10.

I think we agree that we want to make America a better place.
How we go about that is where our philosophies diverge.

Liberals tend to think the government should handle everything. Not all of them do, but most. They're in favour of entitlement programs and think this makes them sensitive to the needs of the poor.
Conservatives believe that the Constitution spells it out well. We all have the right to Life, Liberty and the PURSUIT of Happiness... not happiness itself. If someone works hard and makes more money than you do... they deserve that.
You're not entitled to a piece of his pie.

I think we agree that illegal immigration is bad... at least... we CITIZENS agree on that. The whackjob liberal leftists in Congress see those people as 20 million potential voters and are willing to sell out the American people to get more votes. They know that those people will back the people who got them amnesty.
Proof that we stand together on that issue came when the People stopped the passage of that amnesty bill this year. The problem is, now Congress is trying to force feed it to us one piece at a time.

I think we agree that removing Saddam was a good thing, but we had insufficient planning in that there was no exit strategy.
Most people would say Saddam was dangerous. Lunatics liked him, but hey...
anyway... the war was won quite quickly but now we find ourselves in the middle of a three-pronged crisis in Iraq. You have Iran seeking to fight a proxy war against us... you have Al Qaeda looking at Iraq as a battlefield to fight against us on and you have a civil war among the factions in Iraq itself.
Once again, it's HOW we approach the issue that separates us.
Liberals want to cut and run. Get out now. To hell with those we leave behind... whoever takes control there, takes control.
Conservatives want to leave the country stable and that means dispatching Al Qaeda, putting pressure on Iran to cut it out and working with the three primary groups in Iraq to negotiate a peace.

So I think we agree on several things, personally... we just disagree on methods.
I just wish there were more Liberals who weren't so quick to think they're right and scream and holler... because when I've met those on here who can reason... we've had interesting discussions of how compromises may be met.

The Liberal and Conservative view is not about understanding human nature, it is about what is the best way to run government and society. Liberals want a larger government to help provide for everyone's need. They usually raise taxes so they can pay for it. They think that the rich should pay more in taxes because they have more to give. It it much like Robin Hood--take from the rich to give to the poor. Conservatives, on the other hand, want less governemnt and that people should be responsible for their own lives, not have government run things. They think that everyone should pay the same percentage, poor and rich,. They do not want to tax the rich extra because they do not want to punish people for just being successful. Your example does not prove anything other than most people are really honest. It does not show that conservatives trust people less than conservatives. I would like to see a study on how many Liberals lock their doors at home when they leave compared to Conservatives. I think the number would be about the same. I don't know where the amusment park is that you are talking about, and I do believe that most people are really honest, but I assure you that in most places, a good number of people would not return with the money. Also, did this story appear in the newspaper? It seems to me that this would have appeared in the news somwhere as a human interest story. It also would be a good advertisement for the park. There must be some way to prove the story. I am not saying you are not telling the truth, but it would be good for you to have some proof that it did happen. I'm not asking you to do this to prove you are telling the truth, but that it would be a good way to prove that mankind can be good.

Liberals and Conservative in the United States of America are like the Boston Red Sox (Liberals) and the New York Yankees (Conservatives). They both do not like each other and their fans are not fond of each other either.

Conservative are willing to work with Liberals on solving issues facing America but Liberals are NOT willing to work with Conservatives and other Liberals on solving issues facing America.

Both do agree that Americans need to be involved in goverment and they should go and vote but that is probably the only thing they agree on.

Liberals and conservatives cannot agree on anything probably. Republicans and Democrats agree that they want the best for the country but with different ideas on how to accomplish that. And, contrary to radical beliefs, we all support our troops and are for the most part patriotic.

Liberals and conservatives want to implement different agendas and policies; you're not going to agree about that.
**Quoted from both Conservative and Liberals:
"We want our children to grow up happy, to spend their lives doing something that is useful and emotionally rewarding, to be free from the fear of violence or economic disaster, to be well fed and healthy and secure. We want those things for ourselves and for those we love, and we want that for other people's children, too, and for everybody in the world, at least as long as we don't have to sacrifice our own children's happiness for the sake of the happiness of people we never met. If we start having to choose between our own kids' happiness and somebody else's, well, that gets problematical."

I think we agree on legalizing marijuana, 20 years of Bush & Clintons in White House is enough, and a pocket full of money is a good thing.

I'm Libertarian so I'm conservative

I agree with a lot of conservative views.
What sets me apart from conservatives and makes me liberal though, is the fact that I don't believe in more laws to promote faith based agendas.

It completely baffles my conservative friends, until they say "a law needs to be made...[insert moral belief here], then the liberal surfaces.

I would say on illegals. Both parties need to do something regarding this. I know in NYC voters of both parties were angry with Gov. Spitzer's proposal of drivers licenses for illegals. And he finally dropped it.
