Major achievements have nothing to do with happiness. Some people have achieved a tremendous amount yet remain unhappy. (I do think that in order to be happy, you have to feel like you are fulfilling some sort of purpose but this can be anything. I used to teach mentally challenged children and they were often extremely happy about small, everyday type things. I really think most of us could learn from them.)
