I got a new growth off of a needle palm and I slightly moistened the part that goes in the dirt and I root toned it. The root tone powder was stuck on it really well and I put it in dirt in a pot. Its been a week and the cuttings look fine. I just dont know how often I should water it. How often do I water it? That is what im wanting to know.

I would keep it just moist. Too much water could give it "cold feet". trial and error.

You only want the soil to be moist. Not sure how deep you planted it but if it is at least two inches deep you don't want to water til the top inch to two inches starts drying out. This will the root from rotting and also cause it to grow quicker and deeper to get the water. Also make sure the water can drain to a dish underneath the pot and not stay in the pot so it doesn't get stale.

If you put the pots in zip-type clear plastic bags, seal, place in sunny location. No further watering is needed as the bag creates a greenhouse system...when you see new leaves, you have roots. Harden off before totally taking them out of the bag.

Without the botanical name for the plant I cannot be certain but, if this is indeed a palm taking cutting of the foliage will not produce a propagule. The leaves do not have the ability to produce roots. Palms are propagated from seed, off shoots ("baby plants"), and tissue culture.

If it is not a Palm then keep the soil moist and drained.
