I used to be a video game fanatic, but over the last 5 years I've finished 3 video games that I can think of. So I was hoping I'd have some fellow fantasy nerds here give good recomendations.

My favorite franchises have been Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry and Onimusha. Although I've actually played quite a few RPGs and enjoyed all of them, so that's kind of what I'm looking for. Something with a deep plot but plenty of action would be nice, and I'll list some games I've played and like so that you know what not to suggest.

-Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, XI (for a year or so, until my PS2 was involved in an incident that wrecked it and my hard drive), and XII
-Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3
-Onimusha 1, 2, and 3
-Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 (I was too young when the first come out, although I did watch very attentively when my older brother played it)
-Max Payne 1 and 2
-Legend Of The Dragoon
-Breath Of Fire: Dragon Quarter

I've been considering Xenosaga. What do you think?

Thanks buddy, you seem like a nice guy. I guess you missed the part where I've played 3 video games in 5 or 6 years? I guess I failed to mention that it was because I spent too much time outside of my house with friends and family. Whoops, you made an assumption, and I guess that old saying about assuming is true.

PS
I'll delete the question or report you for abuse before you get thebest answer.

Thank you all for the answers! And I've actually played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City pretty extensively, I think we borrowed it from somebody and I got my fill of, well you know what you do in that game.

And the first Devil May Cry really is one of the most difficult games I've ever played. The second one wasn't as good or as hard, and the third was another good one and damn near as hard as the first! And I'm one of those stubborn prideful guys who refuses to put it on "Easy". And I'll have to look up those other games you mentioned.

And I've been thinking about playing Kingdom Hearts. When it came out I thought I was way too cool to play a Disney game, even though I love Final Fantasy, but I know two other guys that swear it's a good game, maybe I'll steal one of their copies.

Thanks again for the answers.

Since you like the Devil may Cry series, I'll assume you are a fan of action games. I highly recommend God of War & God of War 2. These are honestly the best action games out there. They have a great story heavy with Greek mythological creatures and gods, a easy to learn battle system, beautiful graphics, and addictive gameplay.

Shadow of the Colossus is a fun and unique action/adventure game.

If you like RPGs, I recommend Dragon Quest 8. This is a fun turn-based RPG by Square-Enix (Final Fantasy creators).

A good action RPG with a deep storyline is Star Ocean - Till the End of Time. It's also by Square-Enix.

Also, a great game I have to recommend is Resident Evil 4. It's the best horror/shooter available.

RPG wise I'd suggest Grandia 2, Wild Arms, Wild Arms 2, or Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete if you haven't played any of them yet, other parts of those series are optional, as they are like Final Fantasy in that the sequals are either completely unrelated or VERY loosely related to the point you don't have to play another game to get the full story of one. Those might not be big on the action, but I thought I'd suggest them.

As for the action question, I agree with someone else's suggestion of Beyond Good and Evil. Don't let the beginning bit fool you, it starts off really simple and all...then it gets a deal more difficult. I can't really think of anything else to suggest since I'm not big into the action game scene. I'm more of an old school adventure game-gamer.

I really like RPGs myself, I loved Devil may Cry, but is should have been called "Make Spooky Cry" cause it got hard to me.

Some of my favs
Silent Hill 3 & 4
Gun
Fatal Frame I, II, III
Any of the Grand Theft autos
The Darkness
Bioshock
Fable
Oblivion (very time consuming)
Destroy all Humans 1 & 2
Family Guy

I also like some games, that my bf calls kiddy games...
The Harry Potter series of games
Psychonauts
Katamari Damacy
The Nightmare Before Christmas

As far as Xenosaga goes, I've never tried it, sorry. Good luck.

I'm not a huge video game guy but I am a big fan of all the Grand Theft Autos. Gotta love the fact that you drive around recklessly AND have to control the car stereo at the same time. It's a lot different from the fantasy adventure type games you've listed but I think you might enjoy it.

I have played all of these games on my PS2, so they could also be played on a PS3. Hope this helps. GAME ON!!!!!
