Well if it has to be English, hmm no one. Seriously if you appoint an English manager you can't expect to qualify and get to the quarter finals and beyone every time.

But if it really had to be English, mmmmmmm I can't think, Pierce no, Shearer no, Allardyce maybe. For god sake is there any English manager with a club in the top half of the table. Maybe Steve Coppel in the future.

Foreign coaches:
Now:
1. Capello
2. Mourinho
3. Klinsman

After Euro 2004:
1. Scolari

i have come to term with the fact that the english national team is strange/unique in many ways than one,or else how does one explain its strings of underachievements since its semifinal appearance @ the 1986 world cup inspite of the huge investments of the fa & immense talents that abounded in the country within these periods. As such it is my contention that what england needed is an assertive man who is strange in his own way &he may come from any nation. jose mourinho readily comes to mind here. Another choice is the present portuguese coach.

why does it if you pick one of those managers it will be another mclaren not done enough to contain those big heads and big egos you need a manager who can control theses players and i can't think of any English managers around at this point in time who have won enough to do that so O'Neil would be a good choice Jose would be the best choice

Don't shoot me but what about David Beckham he knows the game, he knows England players and game also he knows about the other sides he has played them enough.
I truly believe one day he will get the job although maybe not this time who in their right mind would want it with what they have infront of them?

I did want Aston Villa manager but bless him he loves Villa!
