Well, tiping has now become a sign of respect and thankfulness. Depending on the waitress' service, attitude, etc. We usually tip about $10 if she is really good. Or sometimes we just use10 or 20% of the total. Cause if you order a lot, a waitress can easily get mixed up and you have to give credit for all that hard work and manners.

IF ur a really good waitress to me, i'll tip u fair, at times more than fair. IF not, then no tip for u. Dont tell me about stress and stuff. I look around to see if ur busy, and how many of u are on staff, etc, so see ur work load, and if I see u have ample help(like if ur the only waitress and there's six tables u have to wait on, u'll get a tip as long as the wait is reasonable). By this, I mean, half an hour. It just all depends on how business looks to me. But if ur the only waitress, and ur only waiting two tables, and it takes u an hour to give me my food, then u get no tip(this is assuming the kitchen is right beside my table). I try to be fair...as I see it.

The restaurant industry is really weird, and is not set up like most other businesses. Believe it or not, waiters and waitresses are actually paid BELOW minimum wage. Their employers assume that the rest of their pay will be made up in tips. Some people would like to change the restaurant business so that tips are no longer required. That's great, but keep in mind that then all waiters and waitresses will have to be paid at least minimum wage. In effect, they'll all get a pay raise. Where's all that money going to come from? They would obviously raise the price that you pay for your food. So the way I see it, you're going to get stuck paying your hard-earned money one way or another. At least with the current model, you get a choice in how much. You can extend a little bit of generosity towards a good waiter/waitress, and maybe be a little less generous towards those that did a terrible job.

I always tip. I know what waitresses make and I know what they have to put up with. I use to be one. I always tip over the 12% required here in my state. Sometimes I tip as much as my meal, which may sound crazy to some but if everyone had no choice but to be a waiter or waitress, then they would understand.

I have a scale... 1 to 5. 1 gets no tip and a complaint on the company website as well as to the manager, 2 gets 10% or less and a complaint to the manager, 3 gets the standard 15%, 4 gets 20% and 5 gets 25%. I usually tip more when I know it's a place that does tip-sharing with hosts and kitchen staff. but honestly, it all depends majorly on how friendly the person is, how concerned they seem about how our meal is going, I drink A LOT of iced tea, so I tip extra for the waiters and waitresses who are mindfull to keep my glass full, bonus points for the ones who keep my glass full of TEA, and not ICE... and like at Olive Garden, I never eat the pepper in the salad... and one time the guy not only kept the iced tea coming (without the loads of extra ice) but he also brought subsequent bowls of salad WITHOUT the pepper. He got major props and a total compliment with his manager and the company website.

at a family restaurant I give the tax plus $5 as the tip so it normally comes out around $7-12 I know it's not much but every little bit helps right?
For a high class restaurant I usually tip $15 flat.
for pizza delivery $3-5

I tip at least 15%, more if the service rates it. I have worked for tips before, so I tend to hold strongly to that idea.
The problem is, the location and type of people that frequent a restaurant have a lot to do with your tips. You may want to talk to the manager about this problem so that tipping can be encouraged or that gratuity be automatically added.

I always tip but if the waitress seemed to put an effort into it and I don't mean she has to be extra nice, the tip is really good

i always tip - that's what we do in america. i know that waitresses and waiters only make about what you do, and their salary relies almost completely on tips. i usually tip about 20% for good to excellent service, 17% for good to normal service, and 15% for normal to bad service. however, if the waiter or waitress was absolutely horrible, i will near stiff them (about 5%), because they don't deserve my money (this doesn't happen a lot).
