Yes. There are various theories put forward by different religion and based on those, your beliefs take shape. Mine says we are sourced from pure energy and body is our vehicle but we also get corrupted. We will change our vehicles till we rid ourselves of our impurities to final merge again with the pure energy. That's when we will attain moksha, deliverance from this cycle of birth and death.......

i think not , but to take the jump from matter to energy is simple , its still existing afterwards that's hard .
that wouldn't be evolving . its just something you see on tv coz it sounds real cool .
i think there isn't a final state of evaluation or it wouldn't be evolution in the first place .
but as blazin said we are all part energy and part matter . so would it not be logical to say that life is energy yet contained temporally in matter .
so if this is right and you are right , then it stand to reason that all living things evolve when they die anyway . yet evolution only happens with matter and not energy . yet energy never disappears , it only changes to a different form of energy . so if we are part energy , when we die do we not evolve .
so it really comes down to what you believe you as a person are .
are you energy or matter .
i personaly think the who meaning of life is in one word is " change". everything changes yet evalution says that change has rules to it .
but to really reply to the question , no i dont think the ultimate of are evolution is to make the jump to pure energy will never happen , not without some kind of intervention such as god(if you believe) or science .

What makes you think wind, electricity, flowing water, and life are not already "pure" energy? They certainly are.
However, if you have ever taken the time to read the great philosophers on this subject, you would know there can be no energy without an "energized" substance, be it "strings" or electromagnetic waves from the sun.

Pure energy already exists. Evolution is the process of transforming pure energy into productive energy!

No. You could say the sun is almost pure energy, but to become like the sun would not be the goal of evolution. To shine like the Son of God, Jesus Christ, is the goal of every man of God. This is the will of God for us all, as members of His creation. Evolution being a possible tool for His creative works.

The goal of evolution to me, seems to be immortality.
i base this fact on the strong will to survive that can be observed everywhere.
we develop a body of knowledge through generations and generations, making it easier for future generations to stay in this existence longer and more successfully, the same with the advancment of medicine, and business and life in the wild, we all share a common goal to navigate this world the best we can and to extend life as long as possible, the end result will be immortality, we will achieve immortality.
The mapping of the human genome and understanding of aging combined with nanotech will perhaps be the final answer to it all where we build little machines to navigate our bloodstreams to thwart off aging.

as someone who believes in a weird mixture of all sorts of things i wondered recently if we shouldn't take that 'children of god' stuff from the bible LITERALLY!!(you gotta add a lil re-incarnation to that to make it work in terms of evolution) so the ultimate evolution is to become boss of your own reality...or maybe just be able to give the big fella upstairs a decent game of monopoly...i understand that omniscience and omnipresence makes it v difficult to resist slippin a coupla extra hotels on mayfair every once in a while and then you feel bad cos the angels are all like 'wow! you're like real killa at monopoly dude!!' and then you feel kinda alone and guilty and down on the whole creation malarky.

There is no goal as such, but there may be beings out there who consist of plasma, which i suppose is more obviously energy than other states of matter are.

Evolution has no goal. Whatever form manages to eat, avoid being eaten, and have enough children stays around the longest.
