There are so many oppourtunities these days to pick an "us" and a "them": libs, cons, Reps, Dems, gays, women who want abortions, illegals, Christians, neocons, Muslims...etc., etc.. I know being in (or against) one or more of these groups can help give us a sense of identity, belonging and serving a greater purpose, but are we really getting any closer to "defeating" any of these groups or are we just finding other people to blame for our problems? What would we do without "them"? I beleive it was Jung who said "What we resist persists.". Do you think the wars on poverty, drugs and terror have made those social woes better, worse or kept them the same? Or do those wars serve to absolutely ensure that those problems always remain with us?

Well, do you believe that people should all be alike? Do you think you, for example, should be like the Arabs who bombed the WTC and killed three thousand NON-MILITARY people? You can answer your own question.

You're right. It shouldn't be us & or them.
It should be right & wrong with no in betweens.
The reason it's us & them is because there are always difference of opinions.
Its just language. Us, them, me, you.
Do you really want to give words, language that much power?
Everyone should strive to do whats right.
But the good thing about differences between two groups is, they keep each other balanced.

Dont call them wars, call them struggles for Peace, Justice, and Equality. War is neocon talk.

The "us and them" philosophy was one of Nazi Germany's greatest strengths, don't knock it! /end sarcasm

Without their unflinching devotion and blind patriotism, Nazi Germany would have been swatted like a fly, but the "you are either with us or against us" mentality made them anything but weak....and anything but Free.

Yes, it is a good thing.

Hitler and Stalin did their best to eliminate "us" vs. "them"...
