In Germany it does work excellent!
Why not in Hollywood?
Also: animated films would be successfull synchronized too

Dubbing is the worst thing to ever happen to cinema. I'd much rather read subtitles than hear bad voice-over work.

It depends on the movie. Most of the time, movies that are predominantly for children are dubbed because a child will not sit and read subtitles. I am sure, however, that there will be an English language showing of Harry Potter somewhere. When you look up the movie theatre on the internet or on their sign, look for "VO" for 'original version'. That one will be in English.

It may very well have to do with the rights / demands of the producer / director... they may not WANT the film dubbed. It may ALSO be that foreign films have a FAR smaller distribution here in the USA and may not justify the COST.
I'm not a big buff of foreign films, but Das Boot was in German for YEARS before it was ever dubbed... I also enjoyed the recent film "The Labyrith" with it's subtitles.

Voice over is stupid, compared to subtitles. Seen any Bruce Lee videos? The english voice over is absurd. I'd much rather view the subtitles and so does most of the population of cinema attractions.

Subtitles are better because you can hear the actor's actual voice - their tone, their inflection, etc. You lose that in dubbing and, therefore, lose part of the performance.
