i know that it definately has its bad spots! but, it also is an awesome place! i mean, it has everything! snow, sun, mountains, beaches, hikings, skiing....surfing. i know also that LA and stuff has a LOT of smog (ive seen it) and i'm not a big fan of hollywood. but places like mill valley, san simeon, and other coastal areas are beautiful. im not trying to get people mad, i just want to know why people don't like it.

It is really all about the culture. For people from the east coast or midwest California is a people wasteland. To us, Californians seem: stand-offish, suspicious, uncommunicative, inarticulate, unfriendly, etc. It is as if we have entered the planet of the zombies. The same is true in the rocky mountain west - but to a lesser extent.

I also hate California. Too many songs and movies about a state thats about to drop in the Pacific Ocean, gay pride parades, the freaks of San Francisco, too many spoiled little rich boys, the claim that this dung hole has the best looking women (dream on!). Well, that my beef.

We hate the liberal morons that populate southern California. Its sad because the landscape in the state is great. Socialism has really warped a once great state.

I'm a native Californian, and I love it here. I understand why some people hate it though. Some of its downsides are that it is extremely overpopulated, very expensive, has a huge homeless population, unemployment is high, and a lot of what once was beautiful landscape is now being taken over by shopping centers and houses.

Maybe CA conflicts economic interest if any about housing, automobiles, computers and safety.
Science predicted big quake would hit CA in next 40 years.
Lower standard of housing and living compare with life style in midwest or southeast for low-to-moderate income of workers.
CA economy partially bases on microcomputer and new breed of software, Japanese automobiles.
CitiCorp lost money in mortgage, Allstate lost car insurance, big three automakers often laid off workers for losing sales; etc.

Greetings from Ohio. CA is great! There's nothing wrong with it. I had the best time in CA. Lots to see and do. A lot of people hate Ohio too and I don't know why.

I think California is beautiful,but dangerous.Earthquakes, volcanoes,wildfires,smog, and some day tsunomis {only a matter of time}.People are afraid of what they don't understand.

Well, it IS beautiful in California. But there are some down sides.... and since you're asking, here's what I will tell you...
California is ridiculously expensive to live in.
There are a lot of liberals there.
