Police and hospital emergency room statistics bear out the reality of a full moon's impact on human behavior. What is more important is the moon's role in earthquakes. A professor named Bergland in Northern California postulated a connection between quakes and the appearance of a full moon at close point of approach to the earth. Others found his theory funny until he was four hours off on predicting the Sylmar quake in Southern California and six hours off on the Northridge quake years later.
If you live in a quake-prone area that full moon could be a wake-up call.

It sure seems that way when you talk to police personnel, emergency room workers, hospital employees, & doctors. Popular legend has it that the full moon brings out the worst in people: more violence, more suicides, more accidents, & more aggression. The inflence of the moon & behavior has been called "The Lunar Effect" or "The Transylvania Effect." The belief that the full moon causes mental disorders & mental disorders, & strange behavior, was widespread throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. My sons are in law enforcement & can attest to the fact that there is more crime during a full moon. A friend of mine is a nurse in obstetrics & she says many babies are born at the hospital where she works, when there is a full moon. ( the 9th full moon in the pregnancy)

Absolutely. That's where the name "lunatic" came from. I have worked in customer service most of my life and it always seem that people get more angry or more ill around the changes of the moon.
When I was studying to be an EMT, we had to do clinical time in our local hospital's ER ... our instructor told us to try to schedule our time during a full moon on a weekend night if possible because you tend to see more violent crimes at that time ... stabbings, shootings, etc.
And I agree with the head start; I have had some pretty pissy patients this week and when that starts, I always look on my calendar to see if a full moon is coming up.
Hope you and I can BOTH stay away from the lunatics this weekend ;)

There has been studies done and they have shown a link between the full moon and people acting crazy. I am like noonecanne I have alot of trouble sleeping for the 2 days before, the day of, and the 2 days after the full moon.

I live near Seattle, WA. I have trouble seeing the moon at any time. If it's not my cataracts then I blame it on the rain. I didn't see the moon for six months after I moved here from sunny California. So, I guess I wouldn't know what effect it has on anyone. Most of us do nutty things at any given time.

I had never noticed the correlation between the full moon and those of the undead persuasion, because I thought people acted weird all the time. It seems I must research this phenomenon further. Now where are my binoculars?

It absolutely does have an impact--I spent part of my nursing career working in psychiatric hospitals & the patients would get more psychotic during a full moon.

That's what the medical and security staff notice. Even more pronounced during a full moon on a weekend.

Oh definitely! I was in the bar business for more years than I care to remember and we could always tell then there was a full moon. The natives got very very restless.
