Well, according to a children's website, it's "Grunt," simply put.

The San Diego Zoo says: "Camels make many sounds, including moaning and groaning sounds, high-pitched bleats, and loud bellows and roars. They also make a rumbling growl that was one of the noises used to create Chewbacca's voice in the Star Wars movies!" (if you go to that website, it's in the left-hand column under "Fun Facts")

Good question, I would have never known that Chewbacca's voice was from a camel! LOL

Well dude(?) you have ask the ultimate question of the natural world. All I can say is that the sound a romantically inclined male camel makes is unlike any other sound I ever heard. It most nearly resembles someone gurgling through a ampifier in a echo chamber. Perhaps someone ,somewhere can furnish the correct terminology but I can't.

Camels make quite a few different noises.

I think the loud bellow that is perhaps most characteristic is referred to as a 'brey' - like the donkey.

They also growl, gurgle, snort and probably a few other noises as well.

Once I heard a camel in labor roaring. I would have thought she was a lion.
Later she gave birth to the youngster.
