Now that I do know! That is quite a savings! There are some medications that are very inexpensive, owing to the fact they have been around for years and are in generic form and don't cost that much any way. I am thinking of digitalis, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide and the like. But still, that is great.

Yes, saw the article about it on the web. "Evil" or not, Wal Mart is the place to shop for some meds and lots of other stuff. In fact, I think I'll grab my "Depends" and head there to spend some money.

Wal-Mart is using this as a loss leader to get people into the store and buy other things. Nationally, the average cost to dispense a medication, not including the actual drug cost, is $8-$10 per prescription. In the pharmacy community, what Wal-Mart is doing is seen as wrong. Also, technically price matching is against the standard pharmacy and health insurance contracts. This comes at a time when the government is trying to change pharmacy reimbursement to below true cost in some cases. They want to use this new equation. However, they want to include hospital pricing in it. The average hospital get the prescriptions at significantly lower price than retailers.

WalMart is Pure Evil ! I am so frightened with the idea that one day, Walmart will own hospitals and dentist offices within their stores. I can see it now. They've got a photoshop, grocery store, bank, nailshop, hairsalon, autoshop, and eye examiner all within their WALS. LOL. All that's missing is the,"Always low housing complexes." Children will be born with that dancing yellow smiley thing branded on their arses! The motto will be,"Always low healthcare."

I have also heard that Costco will give excellent prices on drugs and you don't need to have a membership to use their pharmacy.

Edit: Thanks Min! I didn't know that Target did that too! I'm one of those who despise Wal Mart.
