I'm going to get a fresh tree this year and don't know whether it's cheaper to get one from a tree farm or from the (for example) Masons club stand down the street.

I live in the Andover area if that influences your answer any.

Thanks!

I went to the Mass. Christmas Tree Farm Site and since you live in Essex County there are a few farms in your area to call.

I'd try Smolak Farms in North Andover for a start. (978) 682-6332. www.smolakfarms.com

It maybe cheaper to buy at a stand. I'd ask the Masons where these trees were grown. If it was a small local farmer you'd be supporting your town.

While it is generally less expensive to purchase a tree from a roadside stand, your fresh tree will be fresher if you purchase it from a Christmas Tree farm. It's also a lot of fun and a good way to spend time with family or friends. (You'll also be supporting a local farmer and promoting the retention of open spaces in New England!)
