Ok I want to do something. Right now I am using dish network with a dishdvr 625 receiver. I want my shows on my pc! I am leasing the box right now and i know i can hack it but that will void the warranty. Is there a dvr that will let me transfer shows to my pc without having to wait in real time? It doesn't have to be dish net i would switch. Or should i just get a basic box and get a tuner for my pc?

Is internet TV very far off? will i soon be able to get my shows off the web? I know some shows do that already but is that the wave of the future?

Satellite is tricky, by Microsoft promised support for satellite receivers in the PC.
However, cable is easier.
a) Get a PC with a digital TV tuner that also support cable (QAM)
b) If you want premium cable, make sure the PC has also a CableCard slot
c) The PC needs to run Media center in Vista (Home Premium is OK)
Media center comes with free TV guide and Internet TV through Microsoft's portal.

inet tv has a way to get yet
those shows that streem look crappy on a computer
even worse on a tv
the problem will be solved when everyone gets a fiber optic connection
and then they stream in full 480x640 or 720x480

Get a Slingbox! You plug it into your tv and then you can watch your tv shows anywhere where there is an internet connection on your laptop or compatible mobile phone! (No I don't work for them)
