He is a 58 year old carpenter. The only real sport he likes is fishing but needs no fishing equipment. He is into electronics just like every other guy. Just looking for some ideas.

The solar powered radio is a great idea suggested already.
Another good idea is a gift certificate to a sporting goods store, or a good boot shop. My son is an iron worker and he loves getting them to boot shops. He can then get a good pair of boots that will last him all year.

how about u get him a nice watch or take him to his favorite restraut or some place nice.=) give him a good day which he would love, go out fishing for an example or make him a gift from the heart like a #1 dad trophy that you made your self. im sure he will love it=) or get him an i pod or a gift card for home depo or sears or lows or some other thing or get him a movie he might like. good luck=)

you said he was a carpenter, are all his tools new? Maybe some back up battery packs, or a new air compresser, or just replace something that is shown lots of wear.

A stepstool tool box is always handy. In it you can put gift card for his favorite lumber yard and a really good old movie.
