Will you be able to choose? Can you ask why? or how? Can you question the real meaning of the afterlife? Will it be possible to feel fear? Will you be able to dislike anything?

I don't believe in heaven. I think when you die, its just black, like when you sleep and don't have a dream. If I did thought I think it would be about the same as when you were alive.

Well, if you believe in the Bible, Heaven is a place where we will feel no pain and no fear--we will recognize our loved ones (and others as well, such as historical personages like Abraham, Moses, Paul, and many others), and will know God as He knows us. Since all will be peace, light, and joy, I seriously doubt that there will be anything TO dislike.

I personally believe that we'll also have all the answers to all the questions we had during our lives.

My faith is such that I believe that Heaven will be better than anything our finite minds can grasp until we're actually there.

this is my opinion on the past life.if you have been average on the nice side you will get chosen to go to heaven.and if you have been bad ie murdered someone you will get chosen to go to hell.in heaven i think you meet up with all your family and friends who have pasted away and you watch over your living friends and family. so i think you will remember your human life, i think you will remember your pain and suffering in your past life but not every exact detail. course you will think the same if you remember your past life. i don't think you will be able to chose whether you go to heaven or hell. i think the real meaning of afterlife is to meet up with with your freinds and family who have died just to see them as they would be.in hell you will see suffering towards everyone and yourself but most of all you will have to watch close friends and family in pain. i think you will always be able to feel fear.
hope i answered your question. beth x

The answer to that is entirely dependent on your specific religious beliefs.

My personal religious guide is Joseph Cambell's Myths to Live By. Basically, when you die, I think you join with the universe and transcend even the idea of thought.

I hope nobody here pretends to know the answer to any one of your questions. Don't get me wrong, they are the best questions I have seen here in a long time. But, thats only because everybody asks them. And the only reason everybody asks them is because NOBODY knows the answers.

Do you seriously believe that anyone can give you an answer to this? How could they know? They haven't been there.
