my essence is of topaz
glowing like a bright morning star
i drift into a new life
twinkling past skies as dark as tar
evanescent glare of light
i'm barefoot, climbing every stair
a journey to the beyond
God in heaven awaits me there.

Hmmm...it reminds me of a Rumi's ghazals.

A very bland Rumi poem, which is unlike Rumi at all.

There is an attempt at transcendence through figurative language, but it doesn't achieve it. The language gives the impression that it is beautiful, but it has no visible syntactical essence. Each couplet is a world of its own: which is why it is reminiscent of the ghazals of Rumi.

But even though the form is right, the language and the context and the intelligence of the poem is wrong.

I mean, look at the responses thus far. Nobody can figure out the meaning, but everyone agrees its "beautiful." What's the point in that?

That's like painting a picture just with beautiful colors and expecting it to be on par with da Vinci.

You have to think about composition, about how the elements of the poem relate to one another.

If I had to guess what this poem was about, I would say stars.

Just stars.

Because that is the only thing that remains a theme. But what about them?

The poem is about the interconnectedness of being: the same life in the poet's bloodstream is to be found in growing things, in the rhythms of the ocean (which themselves mirror the rhythms of life and death), and in the history of life on earth (this is the meaning of the last two lines). Technically, the poem is written in unrhymed free verse. The word 'life' is used in every stanza as well as the title, indicating the centrality of the idea, and the theme of rhythm is similarly repeated throughout.

Dear Lady,
Being a published poet and a Fellow Poet in England, I can say this about your poem.

Poems like yours are for the reader to interrupt for themselves. That is the beauty of your poem. It could be a bit
longer, but that is just another poets opinion. Keep up the work and have fun.

that ones essence continues to venture with transcending
transformation,
a premise that time is meaningless and ones
measure of existence unfolds a now of a future identity
beyond reason, linking with ancient vibrations and fuse
existence with eternity....

~ This is a very beautiful poem ~
Thank you for sharing it.....

Death, but not suicidal...possibly even death by pregnancy because perhaps the child is born of the same month as the mother so it is going into a new life as the mother dies and goes to heaven.

well, there is no much meaning except what you wrote
it's a state of beatitude, a dream-like journey into skies
and a spiritual attitude in search for God
some mystics sustain that God is in the 9th sky.

and self -assurance
except for the last two lines
which are ridiculous.

Moving through life to a better place, a different time or a new outlook?

Maybe a dream - when we sleep we can astrally project to other realms or our spirit can leave our bodies temporarily.
Alternatively it could be our soul leaving our body after death of the human body.
