Save and spend wisely, no dept. Took me a few years to learn that. I simply tell my family there won't be as much this year if I don't have the money. It's asinine to run up credit card debt. I mean, there is eleven months before Christmas.

I have never gone in debt during the Christmas season. If I cant afford to pay cash I just dont buy something. If I need something I will save the money to pay for it.

I use cash only for Christmas. When I run out of allotted cash, I stop buying. I have no debt when the New Year arrives.

I don't go into debt before or after the New year.
Of course in case of an emergency I may be forced to go in debt.

I buy throughout the year rather than just during the Christmas season. I usually use cash or debit, so no bills.

After years of buying "stuff" for people that they most likely got rid of, never used, or hated, I have decided enough is enough. This year only the wee ones are getting gifts. Hopefully all of my undead relations will not attempt once again to guilt-trip me into purchasing more "stuff".

I'm a Canny Scot, I buy off EBay all year and it spreads the cost of Christmas and Birthdays for me.

Not anymore. Took me years to get myself out of debt doing what people expected me to do. Now I do what I can.

I spend wisely. I pay cash. If I don't have cash, then there is no sale transaction. I like to sleep well at night. : )
