i have a tt225 from 1986. it was working perfectly until one day of riding, after about 2 hours, i was riding slow and i guess i wuz in too low of rpm to shift but shifted anyways to 2nd gear, and it shut off. but when i tried to turn it on again i couldnt kick it over. so i rolled the bike for a few meters and it was able to turn over again. but now it wont start and it makes a weerd clinging noise when i kick it over. theres still spark, compression, all that stuff but wont start. what do you think is wrong with it?

From the age of the bike and your description of the symptoms, it might need some top end repair.
I would first check the valve adjustment.
If there is to much clearance, a valve could be bent.
The cam chain could have stretched slightly, or the tensioner backed out a little, and changed the cam timing slightly, enough for the piston to touch a valve and bend it.
The clinging noise could be a rocker tapping on a valve.

Sounds like my bike it lost oil pressure to the head and temporarly seized. After a min it cooled off and started again. Although the cam ate into the head and its junk now. It still runs but it's to far gone to use as is. If it is clanking it might be that the connecting rod pin wore and the piston is slapping. Or a valve is stuck/ bent. Any strange noise is not a good thing.

I'd say whatever is making the noise is why the bike dies and not the other way around.
