"Will you answer this question?
I'll decide best answer by thumb votes.

What's wrong with that question?! Heart o gold would have won.

Ummm....If I don't choose a best answer, doesn't it go to the voters anyway?

You are playing a game for points rather than asking a real question. You must ask a question and then pick a best answer based on the quality of the answer. You are allowed to leave it up to the members if you wish. Any other use of questions and answers is a violation. Just mentioning best answer or points could be considered point gaming.

What exactly was the question??? Did I miss something here? or was it the part about deciding best answer by thumb votes?

The CG rules are very stringent as to what constitutes a question. See the Yamster's blog entry:

I was nailed a few times myself this week and couldn't figure out why.

My guess is that Yahoo answers would consider it 'point gaming' since there is no real question, just an attempt to give out points with a popularity vote. There's no real exchange of info going on.

There is no rhyme or reason for what consititutes a violation on Yahoo Answers. Any dimwit can give you a "violation" for any reason and the similarly dim-witted folks at Yahoo just go along with it. Freedom of speech? Free exchange of ideas? That's not the Yahoo way, friend.

I once asked that exact same question and also got a violation. Yahoo does not want us to have any fun. it's OK with them to use dirty words that are slightly misspelled and to talk about explicit sex and that kind of stuff but if we try to have a little clean fun were screwed. thanks Yahoo, way to go!!

I'm not quite sure the actual rule but I'm sure Yahoo would tell you that no uesful information can come from a question like that. They have no soul.

who knows... a stupid one if any.. I think there are some bored users on here that play YAHOO POLICE and report questions out of boredom.. it's happened to me a time or two.

There's no question to begin with. It's more like an avatar game.

Maybe the question "Will you answer this question? "
Is not considered an actual question?
