There would be nothing to do, his legal troubles now are outside of baseball and unfortunately, baseball had never had language in their rules about steroids until recently.
They also haven't taken any records away for off-field items.
They will add or take away stats if it's due to clerical errors (like they did adding an RBI to Hack Wilson's single season record)
Edit: Again, in defense of Aaron, I think that too much weight is applied to the # 755. (or now 762)
Across the league, it has been much easier for players in Bonds' era to hit home runs compared to in Aaron's career.
Aaron's HR total, adjusted to Bonds' era is 918.
If you look beyond the surface #, Bonds didn't really break Aaron's record, just exceeded the one-dimensional total.
Which is why, even if Alex Rodriguez breaks Bonds' record, it still won't be the same achievement as it was for Aaron.
Though, adjusting for hr totals in Bonds' era, Ruth's adjusted total is 1912.

Why could anybody boycott baseball if Bonds breaks the list? it truly is way less of an if and extra of a even as besides. The humorous section is why is the question even being requested. Barry Bonds has been shown accountable of no longer something by the regulation are the established public... except perchance being a jerk at circumstances. on the instantaneous and for the previous 4 years each of the communicate has been about him utilising steriods and dishonest. If this changed into shown case, he could have surely been out of baseball by now and probable in detention center. basically because the media has over hyped allegations with him and a childhood pal of his changed into appropriate to the stuff does no longer teach that he did something. i'm no longer offended with MLB for letting him play and smash the list, they haven't any decision. to boot, 5 years from now this is a non-difficulty and he will be voted into the corridor of repute if no actual evidence surfaces. they ought to not have a lot decision without appearing unfaily biased. hypothesis on my own isn't evidence.

You can't wipeout the record because you would have to wipe out the wins and other stats from the games he's played under the influence of Steroids. Asterisk the record and let people know that he did it Steroid enhanced. Keep him out of the Hall of Fame and go after the others as well.

Nothing. They didn't throw out the results of the 1918 world series, and what happened there was an even more blatant offense than steroids, IMO.

Wipe out all the homeruns he have playing with Giants. That should be his total. No where near Hank Aaron's record.

The same thing they did with Mark McGuire's ball that broke the one season home run record.

Nothing. It would be great if they could wipe them out but how do you single out Bonds when so many players were doing them???

Most likely they will put an asterisk beside his name. He impacted baseball in such a way, both good and bad.

they should just do what the rest of us are going to do. Ignore it. You cant take it out of the books and you cant slap an asterik on it but nobody outside of SF is ever going to take it seriously.
