can I flip my battery upside down and leave it overnight and then flip it back right side up and replace the water will that make it work again?

I read somewhere that turning the battery over will get the garbage off of the bottom of the plates and flushing the battery and adding new acid will bring it back. Their is a guy close to here that sells rebuilt batterys so I was wondering what his secret was. Ok I will now go and flip my battery back over. LOL

Not a good idea.....unless you like sulphuric acid burns. (not hydrocloric acid)
The only thing you could try is adding DISTILLED water to the battery cells (just enough to cover the plates inside) and slow charging the battery with a 1-amp charger for about a day solid. If that doesn't work........the battery is doomed.
When a battery dries out over the years, it is not the acid that evaporates......it is the WATER. The sulfuric acid mixture is a calibrated mixture.....that's why you should only add water.
Test each cell in the battery with a battery hydrometer to see if you have a bad cell in the battery...it is usually the 1st one on the positive side that goes bad.

It could possibly cause damage to the battery. A battery that is left uncharged could cause corrosion inside the battery itself, The cells could run dry and the lead plates inside the battery could start to deteriorate, this would make the battery useless. It happens more in hot weather, but it does happen in cold too. The best thing to do is keep the battery fully charged. If its not going to be used for long periods of time, I recommend putting it on a trickle charger. One that will put a small charge just to keep the battery if full charge without the possibility of it over charging it.

Probably not,The battery requires battery acid. Which works in conjunction with lead plates ( called cells.)within the battery.

You most likely have a dead cell.
Have you tried charging the battery?

You out of your %#$@& mind? There's acid in the battery! You sound like the idiot that wanted to replace the water in his battery so they used a soda straw to suck the water out. They had their throat removed and their stomach stretched to replace the missing acid burnt area. If you're smart and don't want to die never open your engine hood, you are not mechanically inclined. If this wasn't a joke posted by you good luck the rest of your life, it probably will be a short one!

not that i know of. a battery dies because the cells inside collect contaminents in the acid/water and the resistance between them increases, also cause the acid looses mojo, when you charge a battery you are knocking some of the crap off of the cells. ( i know thats not all of it but ) you need to charge the battery. plus unless you know what your doing you dont want to mess with battery acid. if you do put water in a battery it needs to be clean filtered water, if not there are more contaminents in it like lead, iron, will make battery cells collect crap faster. but it could work ive never tried or heard of it before, you never know. i wouldnt try it. charge it, trickle charge it.

NO!!!!! You will only make an EXTREMELY hazardous mess! The "water" that leaks out is actually hydrocloric acid. Do NOT turn your battery upside down!

The only way to fix your battery is to charge it. You can buy an inexpensive battery charger at any car parts store, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc.

no no no....it isn't only about the amount of water in it. If the cells are gone bad, then that is the end of it. you need to have it checked out to see if the cells are still good.
