I need the key blank for my car. I did hear about this being done & I did not know the proper way going about it.

Those blanks sell for 70 cents in places like Lowe's.

I am not sure what "killing a key" is. I am sure that if the object is to get a blank, then the cost of fuel and the risk that you will get burnt by molten metal makes buying it for 70 cents a much better deal.

Not an easy way. You need a source of high heat. The metal would need to be strong so the key doesn't break.

Hmmm? Given that many KEYS are made of brass, and the melting point is approx. 940 degrees "C"; I suspect this is a challenge not worth the effort.

I have to agree that it is much more effeciant to just by a spare key.
Also if you have a key you need to get rid of just stick it in a vise and start banging away at it or put it to a grinder!!
