Okay so I have the equation
-Asquared+bsquared-csquared=-2cx
I'm trying to isolate x. Do I divide by 2c or negative 2c to get x alone.

Does the final solution look like this
-Asquared+bsquared-csquared=x

a^2 + b^2 - c^2 = -2cx

Your second answer is correct; divide by =2c to get

( a^2 + b^2 - c^2 ) / -2c = x
