Difficult to answer.
There are some genetic disorders that definitely affect the intelligence of sufferers.

But, intelligence itself is likely a combination of *many* factors, all of which may have some genetic component. And there may well be environmental factors (like diet , etc.) which play a role.
The difficulty arises when you try to even define what "intelligence" is in order to be able to test for it. Most authorities agree that IQ is not sufficient, but there is no agreed upon scientific definition. So where do you begin to even test?

So, I guess the answer is a qualified "yes". There are genetic components, but it is too complex for us to be able to break it down right now.

Genetics fully determines your God-given, structural mental equipment. Disease, injury, drugs, and poor diet can damage it. Training and practice determine how well your body can use that equipment. Education provides much of the training and practice, as well as the raw material (knowledge) for that mind to draw on. Habits of hard work, paying attention, creativity, and good decisions help build wisdom using that knowledge.

IQ measures the capability of that fundamental equipment and compares it to statistical norms, scaled by age. It assumes the taker has taken good enough care of that mind for it to be operating at its design capacity. It does that rather well.

Yes indeed.

You and your partner being smart doesn't guarantee that you'll have smart kids, but it certainly increases your chances. Intelligence has a high heritability. Lots of studies have been done on the IQ's of chlidren and their parents. There is a definite positive correlation. Now, what one DOES with his /her intelligence is another issue.

SoulDawg 4 UGA: Intelligent people don't breed intelligent specimens. Intelligence can be inherited from parents, but it's done by living with them and following their example.

Can say, coz intelligence is linked with your IQ level, that means no. of folds in your brain. means more the no. of folds more is your IQ level. No doubt it is scientificly proved that boys are more intelligent than girls. But hardwork can beat any difficulty.
