Danny White took over as the full-time starter in 1980, following Staubach's retirement:

White did a good job holding the fort, before the dark days of Hogeboom/Pelleur. Then Aikman and Jimmy Johnson came along, and the ship was righted.

Danny White replaced Staubach in 1980. Interestingly Staubach would be the only Hall of Fame QB to be replaced at his position by a punter (White was the punter while backup to Staubach).

After Roger Staubach, it was Danny White for quite a long stretch and then Troy Aikman, after another season I would say Tony Romo would qualify.
