I don't think I have the mental capacity to be a philosopher, although I most certainly would like to be one. I blame this on my impatience.
But I do agree that the philosophy section attracts philosophically inclined people, where they may share their knowledge without being labeled a curiosity or a lunatic.

Lots of true philosophers will never hear of Y! Answers, lots of people using Y! Answers are far away from being philosophers.
There are many definitions for a philosopher. I am one.

People who get paid for it would say I am not one since I don't get paid for it (except in points). But I would say I am one -- an amateur one. (amateur -- from O.Fr. meaning "lover of"). But I could say I am a truer philosopher than they are, that they've sold out, they always have to be careful not to offend whatever powers-that-be sign their paycheck. I, on the other hand, can call it like I see it. Muah-ha-ha.
My paying job is just my Clark Kent job.

I would say that I am. I don't try to be. I just am.
I do think there are some brilliant thinkers here. However, I think that there are not enough.
So many people equate thinking to regurgitating. They are not the same. They may think that they think, but in reality they don't... they just believe. (There is a difference.)

Agreed, I am always looking for more ideas to help me in my quest to contemplate on and resolve my thoughts.

Philosophy serves my need to live a good life, why would I turn down that offer?
