Click the Start Menu and then click Run. Type "command" then in the MS DOS prompt type in "format C:" or whatever drive you want to reformat. Then answer the questions it asks you.

*You might need to put MS DOS onto a floppy disk and reboot the computer to the disk.
*Be sure that you want to reformat the hard drive because it will erase everything, including the operating system. So make sure you also have the operating system disc to reinstall it.

It's a fairly drastic thing to do. I would check EVERY other option before I did it. I would even consider asking a repair shop to check it out by using a diagnostic program on it before I reformatted.

You might try getting rid of those programs you just don't have to have. Then delete all Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin Files. Then a Defrag. I then suggest downloading CCleaner,(free), to get rid of excess 'tidbit's' in you registy,(I'm assuming we're talking about a 'flavor' of Windows here, since Windows is the one that screws up. If that doesn't do it, try doing a System Restore to restore files that might be corrupted.

WHY would you want to do such a drastic, time-consuming, data-losing procedure like that???

Everyone has problems, but "loading up my computer" isn't very specific nor descriptive.
