"the little blue light shows up saying that my wireless is on." - ONLY means the built-in WiFi device is working.

Read the laptop User Manual. It should explain everything about using WiFi.

You also need to buy a Wireless router to connect to the web. If you already have one, read that User Manual, too.

Then, if you've done everything else correctly, call your ISP, they can help.

Click on the little computer in the bottom right of the screen by the clock. This should open up a wireless networks window. Find your network and set it up by entering the name of the network and your password if you have one. That should work. If you did this already try going into network settings in control panel and repairing the connection.

IE may be set to work offline. Open Internet Explorer, then go to file at the top and make sure that its not checked to work offline. If that is ok, then go to start>run and type in cmd and press . Then type in ipconfig and hit . You should see your ip address and your default gateway listed. Now type in this command string ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (replacing the x's with the number of your default gatweway. It will ping 4 times and if it comes back as unsuccessful then you have a network issue outside IE. If it comes back as successful then your wireless network is ok but your issue probably lies withing Internet Explorer. If the pings were 100% successful then you should open Internet Explorer, and if it was not working offline go to tools> internet options. Now click on the connections tab, then the LAN settings button. Now make sure it says to automatically detect settings.

go to your wireless network settings(there should be a satellite type logo in that little area by the time) make sure your connected to a network, the light being on doesnt necessarily mean your connected it just means that your wireless is on
