They might not be such a good person but people just say these things to not make the family of that "good" person feel resentment in any sort of way, I think most people deserve to be remembered as good people but if one person wasn't so good that doesn't mean you should sympathise just because they died, you can still dislike them but pay your respects after all it is the polite thing to do.

A boy that was in my class at secondary school (i won't mention any names) died last year. He was in his early 20s and committed suicide.
I only knew him for one year because he was expelled, but he was a nasty little **** the whole time. The teachers would sit him next to me so he would behave, but he'd keep punching me so i couldn't concentrate, and if i hit him back, he'd tell the teacher. He would steal things from me and start fights and arguments for no reason, even if i tried to be nice to him. He was nuts.
Anyway, when I read in the paper that he had committed suicide over a drug problem, I wasn't surprised and only felt pity. The paper wrote what he liked doing as a child, and what primary and secondary school he went to, but nothing else. Did he ever get a job? Did he ever make it to college? No, because he was a spiteful little sod who had a lousy upbringing. So I've got nothing nice to say about that.

This irritates me, too. Dont feel so bad, now that other people have noticed this!
Within the papers, there was a guy local to me, who was stabbed to death. The headlines were 'Gentle Giant' killed... *raises eyebrows*.
He was only so gentle that he kicked and winded me in the stomach, for no apparent reason. Stalked the hell out of me, for a few months. Because I wouldn't 'date him'. He hurled abuse at my brother, more often than not.
It kind of enraged me to see all these positive headlines about the guy.... He didn't deserve to die, but he probably riled someone, somewhere. But, in no way is this guy a saint, like everyone made out...
So, no. Its just greedy media, wanting their papers sold... :)

It's one of those strange ways of this world.People say that it's not proper to speak evil or ill of dead ones.So far so good, but instead of not speaking ill of such people,we start praising them and that's really another limit. But,it still is the way of this world.

It is because 'You don't speak evil against the dead.'
I do not change my opinion if they die. I know what they were like.
