Yesterday, unbenounced to me, I have been involved in a Secret Santa (the kind where you draw name from a hat).

The Habs fan, I was talking about the other day (the one who said I could never fully understand what being a REAL hockey fan is about, because I was not raised in a hockey environment) is the one I have to buy a present for on Christmas. For his birthday, a few weeks ago I bought him a DVD of the 1978 Cup Final between the Bruins and the Canadians and some other un-hockey related items.

So, what can I get a Montreal Canadians fan, that was born in the 40's, that thinks the Montreal winning streak in the 70's was better that the winning streak in the 50's?

I really don't want to get him another DVD and I know that he would NOT enjoy a piece of memorabilia signed by a Habs player (dust collector). The assigned spending limit is $50.

Thanks for your suggestions.

psch: Thanks for the idea, but I'm not sure his size (he's probably only like 5'2").
Joe: I should have stated this before. He has like EVERY hockey book I have even seen. I mean, he is my hockey library. Good idea, though.

How well do you know him?

Maybe you can find something habs related like a Habs logo on a handkerchief and enclose a card saying it is to wipe up the tears as the habs get eliminated from playoff contention. That along with cme's whiskey and shot glasses to drown the sorrows.

You can package it as the long suffering Hab's fan survival kit or something.

For $50 you could probably get Maurice Richard to autogragh a couple jugs of Grecian Formula.

I've seen whiskey that comes with 2 glasses that have a Habs logo on it. However, if your turkey day was yesterday, you probably live in an area where Habs stuff is hard to come by.

even if she has tons of tack and stuff, there is always something she wont have- what im saying is you can still get her a halter/ lead rope/ saddle blanket/ bridle-reigns/ breast collar/ brushes and so on, just get a type/ color/ kind that she doesn't have. (if you get her tack) or you can buy her a bag of horse treats/ grain for her horse or a board game like: horse-opoly - or another board game even if you get her a movie or book on anything (parelli???) or a gift cirtificate to a resturant or tack shop? or you could get her a notebook- pillow- bag- t-shirt- calender mouse pad- with horses on it or get her a big- little horse stuffed animal i don't know- i hope i helped give you some sort of idea--good luck PS: im sure that what ever you get her she will like- its the thought that counts!

he probably has a lot of t-shirts and long sleeved shirts for the habs too. But on the off chance that he dosent (and also because its like $30 US) go to www.fansedge.com and get a combo of three shirts. I suggest it because it is cheep and they are nice. Best of luck.

Off the top of my head (and I'm not putting much thought into this, to be honest with you lol), another DVD. Subtly ask him if he has seen The Rocket. If not, get it for him. It's a great movie with "awesome cinematography," according to a film critic friend of mine.

Well if you're looking for Hockey related stuff look at nhl shop for ideas:
http://shop.nhl.com/home/index.jsp

If you are looking for something else, thats is another trick in it's self. You have to know what kind of other things he is into for that.
