I don't consider watching a porn movie as a mistake ;) if so, a whole lot of people make mistakes! :P
If he watches movies of something he did earlier in his life, it may just be that he,s not over that specific fantasy yet or that this fantasy cannot be satisfied in real life and must stick to a fantasy world.
Of cours, we're not talking child-porn or rape, are we? cause that would change everything.

This is not a mistake. It is a normal part of your curiosity.

Mistakes will be made over and over until you learn the lesson behind them.
Once you finally learn why it is a mistake, God will leave you alone.
Until you need to learn something different. And so on and so on

no repeating your mistakes is normal. Although most people learn from their mistakes, some NEVER do. Or the ones that need to learn from their mistakes, know that they need to change their behavior but choose not to, IE...addictions (smoking, drinking, gambling, etc...)
