The base of my electric steam iron has turned black (coating)after I used it very hot on the clothes .Plz help

If you can't turn down the heat, you've got a runaway iron and best to get rid of it. As for the burned soleplate, scrub it with fine steel wool (obviously when cold) unless it is a nonstick Teflon base in which case, throw it away. If you must iron something before you get a new iron, use a presser cloth...take a damp cotton cloth and put it between the iron and clothes........you'll have to rewet the cloth frequently.
