If so, what city would be willing to establish a franchise? Is there another city in the west that could support a major league franchise? As we already know the AL has only 14 teams compared to 16 teams in the NL. Any thoughts on the subject?

Actually, what I would love to see happen is bring back Milwaukee to the AL, and put KC in the AL West.

That would only work if they tapered down inter-league to just the bare basics (mets vs yanks, white sox vs cubs, dodgers vs angels, oaklnad vs san francisco, or the reds vs the indians, royals vs cardinals).

I have not heard about that before, but it is an interesting idea. I can not imagine who would take on the new team, it might be a smaller market area, so I don't know how a team would do in say Montana. Maybe Green Bay could be a big enough fan base but that is too close to Milwaukee. I think MLB is over-saturated now and the cost of start up would probably be too much for any place that doesn't already have a major league stadium. I know I rambled, but just kinda thinking out loud, mulling it over.

Baseball has too many teams already. Should have stopped after the 1969 expansion. 24 teams is enough, 30 is way too many.
Pitchers that belong in double A are in the bigs.
A few teams need to go away, like Tampa Bay and Florida.

For all you in this question that want to get rid of Kansas City, that has been tried already. Congressional action, that is how the Royals came about after the A's left for Oakland.

They can't, than you will have 15 teams in the American League, and you cant have an odd number of teams. For the West to have 5 teams, 1 of 2 things has to happen:

1) the East or Central has to get another team, giving the American League 16 teams.

2) One team has to move from the East of the Central divisions, so they will still have 14 teams.

I would say, the Tampa Bay Rays, or whatever thier name is now, should move. Maybe to Las Vegas. But I don't know if Vegas can support a baseball team with all the casinos being the biggest attractions in Vegas.

Maybe. But, I wouldn't be surprised if the A.L. West stays the same. However, I have heard of a rumor years ago about the Houston Astros, moving to the American League.

the AL west is proabably going to stay at 4 teams. however, if there were any cities willling to start a franchise, it would probably be one of the many cities in California.

I personally think that the Astros, from the nl central, should be moved to the al west, because they are in the same state as the rangers, and they are not in central USA. If they are going to add a team, excpect it to be in Portland, or Las Vegas.

No, they will not.

You need even numbers in both leagues, and if you added one to the AL west you would need to add a NL team.

they already have baseball teams in all major cities unless you want to have another failure team like the kanas city royals, maybe they will move to montana(-.-) lol you need a big city to support a baseball team. Thats why the hornets are moving from new orleans, the city isnt reestablished and can only support a football team

The NL west will, of course, get the next expansion team but everything I hear puts that date around 2015.
