ok first thing first if he boyfriend is cute keep him he did try

now to your question when you over fill the oil needs to go somewhere itusually gets sucks through the breather system

and usually plugs up your air filter that restrics the flow of air so it sucks oil past the rings
all you need to do is swap the air filter and drive the car so the exaust gets hot enoulf to burn the oil out of it and you will be fine

As the crankshaft rotates it will churn the oil, causing aeration and eventually sustained foam may form. This can lead to overheated motor oil, oxidation and a loss of oil pressure. Spongy aerated oil is hard to pump. It starves the engine and critical lubricated surfaces. the windage in the crankcase and other pressures generated by the oil pump, etc. place a great strain on the seal on the rear main bearing.
Eventually, often much sooner than the ordinary man in the street might expect, the rear main bearing seal ruptures, and the engine becomes a 'leaker'. If you've got a manual gearbox, this means one thing: this oil goes right onto the flywheel and the face of the clutch disc. A lubricated clutch is A Bad Thing. If this still goes unnoticed, the front seal is the next to go, and the engine then becomes a 'gusher' (or to be more colourful, it starts pissing oil all over the place)

the oil has gone past the piston rings so get some one to clean out engine you can buy engine cleaner from motor shops or ring garage for advice not a main dealer local back street garage is best and once cleaned with a bit of luck all should be ok

There's not much to do but keep driving it until it gets back to normal by itself. You probably got oil all over the cat converter causing too much back pressure and the O2 sensors causing all kinds of bad readings to the computer. I wouldn't doubt you fouled the plugs too.

pull the plug out and drain some.
Then change the oil filter.

Good Luck
