common nouns are names of things. Proper nouns are names of people, places, events, things like that.
apple, onion, rose are all generic things, so common.
the Tiffany Rose, the Vidalia onion, and the Granny Smith apple are proper nouns because they are specifically named, not just plain 'things'.

The y are all common nouns. Proper nouns are names that take capital letters. for example. London is a proper noun., as are James, Anne and Mr. Green. City, boy, girl and man are all common nouns. Hope this helps

All are common nouns. The only way they would become proper is if they were:
Sara Lee Apple Pie
Friday's French Onion Soup
They need to be the specific type of item/name of a specific example in order to become proper.

well if they are suppose to be capitalized then it is a proper noun.....if they are lower case then it is a common noun
