You know, the big shopping day after Thanksgiving with so many stores opening as early at 4AM? Not me. I learned years ago to stay away from the stores after Thanksgiving. It's nuts, and brings out the worst in people. How about you?

Black Friday and the day after Christmas -- ahhh blissful solitude. -- the wife and daughter are gone and in pure ecstasy elbowing, scratching and hissing in department store riots and get home late bloodly and bedraggled, happy as two little clams.

(based on dollar exchange rate, wouldn't be surprised if some of our Canadian friends jumped into the free-for-all)

I don't. I may have to go to the grocery store, but ONLY if I have to! Last year I had an appointment to get my hair cut at a Penney's in a local shopping mall the day after Thanksgiving. I spent 40 minutes looking for a place to park. I'll never do that again. I work so I'd like to take advantage of a day off, but on Black Friday, I feel like it is a wasted day off. I wish I could work and get another day off instead.

I did last year when I was in the States. It was great! I got a free cell phone, fantastic deals on clothing, and we even got to go to Java Moon for lunch. I did have to put up with incredibly rude sales people at the Radio shack in Trenton NJ but the Quaker Bridge Mall just outside of Princeton more than made up for it, Macy's was wonderful! I now live way up north in the Canadian wilderness so it's a non issue regarding Black Friday but I'll remember it fondly and if I'm visiting the relatives next year for American Thanksgiving I'm hitting the mall for sure the next day!

Not me.....I worked the nightmare for too many years. The day before Thanksgiving we sat down and thought of everything we might need and got ourself safely tucked in till atleast Tuesday so we don't HAVE to go anywhere near a store. I live right near the mall and it's a nightmare to just get out of this subdivision because of the traffic. I've been looking out my door at the constant stream of traffic......no way am I going out. The Best Buy near here is so packed they are making people wait out-side and you only get let in once someone leaves. The latest report is they are 98% full at the mall..........not my idea of fun!

I've only gone shopping on "the day" 3 times; many years ago. I think it's been at least 15 years since I've gone shopping the day after Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law and her family have done it often-in fact her son and his wife left their kids with grandpa last night, and started out at 5:00 am this morning. They are battling the crowds as I type this.

I don't go near a store at ANY hour on Black Friday! Too darn crowded and hectic.
I know this has become somewhat of a tradition among some Americans. I guess whatever makes them happy is OK by me.
But as for myself, I would rather wait 'til Saturday or Sunday to shop.

i do no longer think of so. i attempted that one time some years in the past and it grew to become into undesirable. I had to park each and every of ways at the back of the parking zone and hike to the save. The strains have been quite long and that i observed 2 fights (pushing, shoving, and hollering ... no fist combat) I even observed one woman grab a doll out of yet another woman's palms and run with it. This grew to become into an journey i wish I under no circumstances circulate by using returned yet I won't unquestionably say i'm going to under no circumstances under no circumstances do it returned yet something astonishing could might desire to take place for me to circulate back to that insanity. there'll be many sturdy deals obtainable between Black Friday and yuletide. until eventually you delight in partaking in insanity i do no longer understand why all people could place themselves in that subject. i assume it must be thrilling to observe besides the incontrovertible fact that that's no longer worth it to me. Now you have me questioning if Y/A thinks seniors are nuts. must be ... LOL

Never did it because of the stories I heard over the years and I really don't like crowds, but since I'd never done it and I'm also somewhat of an adventurous, two years ago my husband and Brother and sister-in-law decided to give it a try.
Long story short, the guys ended up in line (for us) for two hours to buy $10.00 worth of dishes. It was fill this bag up for $10.00 which was probable $80.00 worth of stuff. The guys were hot and irritable standing in line while us girls tried to shop in some other stores but did not succeed since all the lines were so long. Needless to say we all learned our lesson will never do that again.

I participated one year with my sister who is a big shopper. We were shopping for 9 hours. I will never do that again! I guess I had to experience it at least once though. Now I stay away from all stores on black friday as a personal protest.

I have to do some errands today because of my part-time job. Also have to go to the post office. I may walk through the mall just to see how busy it is. I learned a long time ago not to fight the crowds for Christmas shopping. I order many gifts on-line and shop at odd times when I'm in the mood.
