I don't plan on working during college - I just want to focus all on studies. So I'll be taking the bus everyday. By the time I finish college my G-2 would have probably expired already. Do you think it's a bad idea to stop driving for a few years? I'll lose my driving experience, and end up forgetting the rules of the roads.

Another problem is my dad only has one car and I hate driving it because If I crash it, I'll have no way of paying for it. Having my own car is not an option, I can't pay 500 bucks a month for insurance, especially with a college loan up my ***. It's just not realistic for me.

You have to do what's best for you. Sounds like that's the bus. I had a car for my first year of college but wrecked it, then I bought a much cheaper (to insure and ride) motorcycle. It cost me $1000 and only 160 bucks a year to insure.

You're right to take the bus. No, it's absolutely not a bad idea to stop driving for a few years...I surrendered my license for a year and a half (after I wrecked the car and before I bought the bike). That way you won't be labeled a "licensed driver" and your dad won't have to pay to put you on his insurance.

Heya.

i had a car during college and would have been lost without it!

It depends what you plan to do after college, will you need a car straight away do you think? Do you use your car all the time now?

I live in the middle of nowhere so i'd be lost without my car, I need it to get anywhere. Depends how it'll affect your life and lifestyle...but if you can get away with not paying out for one then I don't blame you! If it's just a luxury item to you at the moment save your money!

Good luck with your college course, you seem to have your head screwed on and want to focus on your course. All I would say is if you manage to work at all it can help you when looking for a job as it's experience...shows responsibility etc.

Yes, I had "Old Nellie", my 1972 VW Dasher wagon... painted in school-bus yellow. I bought it on my 18th birthday for $1800, and drove it for 10 years.

I was going to two different schools (75 miles apart) and working part-time during classes, and full-time in summer.

I had to pay my own fuel/maintenance costs, and 75% of my insurance.

GOOD Luck, and study hard !!

It should not be too tough to uncover a corporation that makes personalized stickers. Car stickers simply use another sticking fabric and I'm certain such a lot corporations would make the stickers like that.
