They are ugly, ridiculous looking vehicles, clumsy and take up far too much room; probably also dangerous.

Lee R what is cla supposed to mean? Do you mean class? If so it has two x s at the end of the word! If you cannot spell it properly you are too young to have an opinion. Besides which, one thing a Hummer - any Hummer - does NOT have going for it is class. A strech Hummer has less class than a Fiat Seicento!

What's the point of ANY Hummer ??? The new ones are on a GMC or Chevy FRAME .The NEW ones are just Hummer Wantabe's. The Military uses REAL Hummers & IF U had to work on a real Bummer [i mean hummer] U wouldn't want to see one.

The point is, there is no point. Just some fool with some money to burn when he could better the world by feeding an entire town in Tennessee for a year with the bucks he just spent.
I see the rants of people saying Hummers are gas hog polluters. Well, let's take a real close look at it.
A standard Hummer (H2) can hold 5 with baggage at about 16 MPG highway. That is 80 passenger miles per gallon. A Nissan Sentra holds 4 with baggage (and not much) and gets 25 MPG at best. That is 100 passenger miles per gallon (and that's pushing it). It's closer to 22mpg , that would be only 88 passenger MPG.
The stretch limo holds 20 people at 6 MPG with baggage which is 120 passenger MPG. So really , the stretch limo gets better mileage than a Nissan Sentra.
So the real gas hogs and polluters are those that drive an empty vehicle and I think we are all guilty of that.
"Those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".
Don't take offense because I'm only trying to get the brains out there active.
I am guilty of driving my SUV alone. I can throw the stones.
And the emission control system and standards are the same as all US Light Duty Trucks.

I think the whole point in them is that there is no logical reason for making something so ridiculous. The only point it proves is that someone somewhere has the the time, energy and money to waste on something that is a complete and utter gimmick which is only really used for hen nights and filming TV shows. Therefore sadly they do have an obscure roll in todays society as being the gross minority of vehicles on the road.. along with the Porsche 4x4 and the BMW which one out of the thousands that are built will ever be taken off road.

The entire point of Hummers in the first place is conspicuous consumption - to own a status symbol that says, "I'm so rich I don't have to care about anybody else on the road or the environment, but I am a supporter of the military."
On the other hand, STRETCH Hummers say, "I really wanted a Semi Tractor-trailer truck converted into a rolling house, but I couldn't get a license to drive one." or, "I like to pretend I am so important that ordinary rules of decency and consideration don't apply to me. Not only do I not care about anyone or anything but looking rich, I actually hate everybody who isn't part of my gang of sycophants, who I graciously allow to ride in my mobile global warming unit with me occasionally."

Like any stretched car, they show the user has no class or style. You see a stretch limo, it's either full of spoilt kids or p****d scrubbers on a drunken night out.
