For example average height for a female is 5ft4/5ft5 and for a man it is 5ft8/5ft9. So why do some people overesimate what is average.
Is it because of the the fact that models have to be tall and distort the perception of average height or is it because most women for example wear heels and people forget to take this into account?

I really do not know ................ I am 5ft3 and quite short in my country. I might overestimate peoples heigth because to me, a short person, they look quite tall.

Well im 5ft 7 woman so I guess I'm seen as above average then. If you look back in history when diets were poorer and the average male height was a lot shorter you see people's height trends are getting much taller but I guess you can say it could be overestimated as that trend is over a period of 300 years.

I'm 5ft 41/2 so I guess I'm considered bang-on average height. Even so, the vast majority of the standard length trousers in shops are too long for me and I end up having to take them up because the short trousers are just that bit too short for me! It seems to me that most "average" clothes seem to be made for someone a couple of inches taller than the real average - extremely frustrating!

how should I know what other people think?
I'm 5'2, and happy with it.
of course, I sometimes envy those tall, slender women who can wear just about everything without making changes in the lentgh of trousers etc.
But on the whole, the looks of many men pay me for being under average height... With the same weight, my curves are far more intense ;-)

i think i am actually quite tall for being the 'average' women i always disliked that about me as i felt that when i wore high heels which i love too.. but now i dont care i have grown to love my height and i think everyone who is really tall, shudnt care what ppl think god made u that special way!

im 6' and still growing [im only 15]
that means im quite a few inches taller than average
