Depends on who I'm talking to. If it's a teacher or my band director or someone older than me, that's not a friend, I call it a bathroom.
If it's some sort of a professional, I call it a restroom.
Around friends and family, I call it a potty. =].

Depends on which side of the Atlantic you are.
Many bathrooms contain toilets but you don't want to go and have a bath in your toilet - unless you are seriously deranged.
In the uk many ask where the toilet is but would be confused if you asked for the bathroom.
Anyway, why do the US call it a restroom - I don't believe there's a serius amount of reading going on in there and I certainly wouldn't wish to rest my head and catch 40 winks in any of them?

I call it bathroom because if you "toilet" that means your youre referring to an object rather than the bathtub, sink etc...
when we say bathroom, its a room where you'll take shower, brush teeth etc....
e.g.
matt = where do I take a shower here?
marie = oh!, The toilet is over there
matt = ???
in this case, matt only understands that he's gonna take a shower on the toilet? LOL ^_^
instead:
matt = where do I take a shower here?
marie = oh!, The BATHROOM is over there
matt = ok, thanks!
see the difference?
hope this helps! ^_^

I call the toilet the toilet and the shower room (no bath) the shower room. I don't use bathroom as a euphemism for toilet.
