Not really needed these days with sealed o-ring chains, might as well spend your money on a Scott-Oiler to keep it lubed up automatically.

Rear Tyre "Huggers" are a good idea though, stops all that gunk kicking up under the rear frame, got a Carbon Fibre one on my R1150RS

haven't seen a after market enclosed guard for a long wile the old ones were ugly & fidley to fit.

You have to have one on the bike so if you don't, yes you can and should. Er, do you want a fully enclosed one?? Not good - not clever!! It's not designed for one.
